Baby it’s cold outside!

January 28th, 2011 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and not loving the cold outside lovers! Well, Chaps and Emma don’t like to be cold so I put their cute coats on them for our well baby visit to the vet. OMD! I cannot believe howl fast their nails grow. I have seen homeless hounds with shorter nails than Emma’s.

Here the kids are getting a treat before we take off….

We have seen many shots of the kids in the backyard but not many with cute coats! Look at Chaps face!

Emma was really strutting her stuff!

Burger boy runs towards the basset hauling vehicle. Poor boy, has no idea where he is going:(

These coats are adorable. I love Chaps’ coat with all the kisses, and Emma’s coat with the fur trim. Chaps and Emma have such style.

What did the people at the vet’s office say when they saw their sharp fashions. Also, I think, and so does Slinky, the fries should be X-tra large.

I have taken to trimming Slinky’s nails myself, and I have gotten quite good at it. I do have to shhhhhh! (muzzler her), and Slinky does squirm quite a bit, but I manage and she always gets a special treat afterwards.

Oh, the kids really made the folk’s day at the vet. They were styling and profiling! For some reason my kids do great at the vets for a trim but if I try it we have massive melt down during the first nail. I wish I could!

very handsome the mayor is..love that shot of him…”like whoa..i know did place!”

Lois he is so funny at the vet office. He loves getting on the scale because he is fawned over like his is the King of Egypt. We act like he just invented the fountain of youth. He actually runs to the scale and has the proudest look on his face.

    BTW – he gained a half pound…..hehehe

How adorable! Harriet needs a fur coat like Emma. Only thing is, down here we rarely get to use something like that. I do have coats for them but they’re all the same plain thing. Oh well.

I have a very nice groomer that I have used for more than 20 years that will cut my hounds nails for $5 a piece. I don’t know what I’d do without her. Ozzie and Rugs are the worst. I know when it’s nail clipping time by just looking at their nails. Last time we did the nails outside cuz we make such a mess and it worked out great. We’re going to do that from now on if it’s not raining.

I just love the mayors expressions both times. The excitement of getting to go bye bye then realizing he’s at the vet is priceless.

I think secretly Chaps and Emma know as well as I do, that ALL scales are vicious liars!

Nell and Sophie do much better with nails at the vet or the groomer. If we try to do it, it is just awful! I think they know that we are not professionals. 😀

I think they don’t let us do it because they know they can get away with murder with us. My bassets are always way more behaved at the vet!

Hannah just saw the Mayor’s coat. She loves his “valentine’s day, hearts of love” coat!

OM – tell Hannah thanks for the comment. Will you tell her that this coat used to be my darling Lily’s coat. Grandma and I bought it for her at a dog show in Louisville, KY. There is a big dog show every year in March at the KY Fair and Expo Center. We have gone for years. It was amazing howl the numbers have dropped. You used to have to elbow your way through the place now you could use it as a bowling ally. I wonder howl much longer giant shows like this will last?

Anyway, I got off on a tangent. The heart coat also has a cute pocket on the side. Chaps carries my business cards so we can hand them out. It is a real show stopper. We know if we put the coats on there is no hope of a real walk. Tehehehehe

    Have a great Sat….

Sandy – you are so right. Chaps and Emma have my number. Emma, being blind, can smell the dang clipper and head right to her safe comfort corner of her bed. Then, she does the cute paw tuck. I just put the clipper back in the drawer and take a nap with her….hehehe
