Chaps Grandma uses her IPad to research the Thundershirt!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and trying to help Chaps with the upcoming thunderstorm season lovers…..Grandma is one of those!

Today, Grandma told me she found this YouTube about Thundershirt for Dogs who are freaked out about thunder storms.

We are willing to try anything! Have any residents tried the Thundershirt? A few years back a resident told us that putting a tight shirt on the Mayor may help his thunderstorm anxiety.

This person said that a tight shirt might make the Mayor feel more secure. I was wondering if this is the Thundershirt idea.

I tried this on the Mayor and it did not work. The t-shirt is so cute on himz! However, it only looked cute while he freaked out!

So, we are asking the residents if anyone has tried the actual Thundershirt! Here is their website….

THUNDERSHIRT

With the thunder storm season approaching we are really looking to help the Mayor!

More loving that Grandma is on the Internet later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

My vet told me that holding Slinky securely with blankets would help her anxiety or if she finds an enclosed spot that would help her feel secure. Slinky likes to rest under tables or in back of my recliner.

    Cat,

Didn’t Bev buy and use the Thundershirt on Mr. Cooper Sir? If my memory is working, it does help the problem. I’m sure several people on the Drool have used and said it works. I only have had one dog, a Basset, and she was helped by the drops put under the tongue.

Mary, the drops did not work for Chaps. Did not even budge the anxiety. I tried the drops and they did not help me either! lol!

yup..bev got the shirt for mr cooper, sir.

i have used richards pet calm (or something close to that) for my mr cooper who was terrified & v9ibrated like a tuning fork at storms & with sophie the berner who would launch her lard butted 129 pounds over 6′ fences & run for days in storms & they seemed to help…some…mixed them with cat food…

Cat, I was in my local pet store and this lady has two rescued Springer Spaniels and was raving about the Thundershirt. She just couldn’t speak highly enough about it!! She said her one dog was terrified of everything and would always skirt the walls of all the rooms in her home but has been a totally different dog since he’s been wearing the shirt. It is not just for storms, apparently, but also for a dog who is very anxious about anything. The pet store proprietor also uses it on her dog because the dog cries and whimpers terribly when she goes away. Just thought I’d share!:)

Hey Mary, I think you just sealed the deal. I am going to get one for Chaps and report on his outcome with the Thundershirt. I will do my own video and we call all view Chaps in this experiment. I really look forward to it.

Again, everyone, thanks for all of the suggestions and views…I will try anything to get him off of drugs. I HATE THEM!

Excellent!! I look forward to viewing Chaps in his shirt! I asked the ladies why it works so well (I had always thought a tight undershirt would do the same thing, actually), and they said it is similar to the calm that one experiences when hugged:) The lady with the Springer Spaniel is a nurse and she said it’s like swaddling clothes for an infant–it simulates the mother’s closeness (?). Not knowing a thing about babies, I guess it’s true! Anyroo, I sure hope it works for our Mayor! Anything but drugs…:)
