It got me wondering if Norman had a basset hound.

So I googled it.

I love these paintings and I can assure you that bassets can run that fast.  You should have seen Daisy Lynn today.  She looked exactly like this!

I know one thing…I am sure looking forward to the image of Spring!

More loving that Norman Rockwell had a basset hound later…Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB with Mr. Rockwell..)

He has a dog in lots of his prints. I bought one for my husband many years ago of an old man fishing in his boat with his dog. Today I googled the print & came up with this. You might find it interesting. I don’t know anything about this magazine which is about dogs nor do I subscribe to it. The article is interesting. http://thebark.com/content/rockwells-dogs

Norman Rockwell is my absolute favorite artist. I hope to go to Massachusetts some day and spend time at his museum. I never knew he had a Basset (thanks for the research).

I was always surprised/shocked that at the outbreak of WWII, he offered his services to the government, and they thanked him very much but said “We are only interested in fine art, not someone who does magazine covers.” What Philistines. Understandably Norman Rockwell was very hurt by this ugly ignorant comment, and it inspired him to paint the 4 Freedoms.

I did not know this. Ronald has a collection of Norman Rockwell mugs that he acquired in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He’d get a mug a month, and a bill of course. We have them displayed very high above a built in cabinet and shelving unit in our living room. I’ll have to look at them and see if I can spot a basset. But I sure don’t remember seeing one.
