Ground Hound Day – what do you think?

February 2nd, 2015 - 3:03 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Ground Hound Day Lovers – This is kind of odd…As many of the residents know we here in bassethoundtown do not trust the predictions of a rather large rodent.  Who died and made him/her the all knowing weather predictor? Anyway…our late Mayor had been correct with his predictions for as long as I can remember.

The procedure is as follows – The current Mayor of bassethoundtown must leave the domicile on his/her’s own accord without the influence of normal routine ie….potty time in the morning.  That way the Mayor is not coxed out when the sun is shining or it happens to be cloudy.

Here we are waiting for the Mayor to pick her timing…

Today it was partly cloudy, 19 degrees with a -2 wind chill factor.  Winds were out of the upper northeast with a leeward clip coming from the Artic band to southern tip of the pole.  In other words, it was darn cold!

Daisy Lynn’s foray today is a bit of head scratcher…

There is clearly a shadow in this picture but she, in my professional opinion, did not see it.

Then we have this picture…again, a shadow is visible but the Mayor did not see it!

What do you guys think? I know what I think but I will post it in the comments later…

The Mayor high tailed it back inside posthaste, of her own accord…

More thinking later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB knowing the answer…)

She clearly did not see her shadow. She also decided she was not going to stay out there because she thought “It is much too cold for this.”

Well, I hear P.Phil saw his shadow this morning. So that means 6 more weeks of winter. I don’t know about anywhere else, but here in Hudson, N.H. we are having yet ANOTHER snow storm today. Not as much as the 23 1/2 inches we had with the storm last week, but a sizeable 12-16 inches are expected before it’s all over with. With the temp at 12 and the wind gusting at 20-30 mph it’s frigid here. Any way I didn’t see MY shadow, so I think SPRING is just around the corner!!

OK, as promised, my opinion…I believe that Mayor Daisy Lynn did not see her shadow and that winter will wrap up somewhat early! YES!

Karen – OMDog!!! I am assuming that you have quite a stock pile of food and stuff. That is some wicked weather!

How much snow did you get out of that storm? We got about 14 inches & I had 4 ft drifts across my driveway. Unreal! Spring is just around the corner. 🙂

Yes Cat, we keep our freezer full of food, our pantry fully stocked and our generator full of gas in case of a power outage. As I’ve said before, we’re hearty New Englanders!!!

Sandy – we got 0 snow! That is howl the weather people are around here. I did wind up going to the store just for unnecessary items hehehe – and it was so jam packed people were waiting in line for a cart. OMDog everyone was so mad. Normally, we get one or two significant snows per winter where you are all hunkered down which is the perfect excuse to eat, nap and binge watch whatever you normally would not even pay attention to on TV. So funny and so fun. I can’t imagine being snowed in for most of the winter. That would be almost scary.
