Well, at least our cousin dog the beagle won again. What is it that they don’t see in the basset? Nothing is more beautiful and elegant to me than those long flowing ears, sad faces, short stature and sagging skin.

The beagle gets the nod in the hound world. The Basset never. At least it was a hound!!!

Also there was a BoBac in the line up. The big white and red fellow. Hope he is healthy.

I watched the show both nights. Lots of beautiful dogs. I was happy the beagle got best of show. I don’t know why some breeds are not chosen – I don’t get it. None of my dogs have ever been show dogs even when one came with papers & was AKC registered. She even had parents that were in shows & etc. It meant nothing to me – she was a sweet girl & a great family pet we had for 16 years. When I see some of those dogs with those fancy haircuts I often want to see what they look like as a “normal dog” not a show dog.

The beagle who won, Miss P, was the grand niece of Uno the beagle that won in 2008 (I think that was the year). I think it’s a travesty that a basset has never won. I’m just glad it wasn’t the standard poodle!

Loved seeing the Basset in the show and have a soft spot for the Beagle, so I’m glad she was best in show! Wish I could post a picture here. My Basset, Hank, watched part of the show with me. 🙂

I don’t know why I keep watching Westminster every year, I just end up irritated. No basset, no bloodhound, no Clumber, no Sussex, no Pyrenees, no Newfoundland. If another terrier had won, I might have thrown something through the TV. And why was the portugese water dog shaved like a poodle? I think the dog show should be done like the Voice and American Idol – let the people vote!

Actually, the dog show reminds me of the anniversary when I met you Cat and all the folks of Basset Hound Town … all thanks to a Sussex named Stump and a rescued Sussex named Nell.

Yes, OM – I totally agree with you. Mom and I quit watching because it was just so irritating. The good thing is that I met you via Nell. The pawsome Sussex! Miss her a lot just as you do!

I think if Chaps or Daisy were in the competition NO OTHER DOG WOULD STAND A CHANCE!
