Spicy south of the boarder drunken corn on the cob – the star of any picnic!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and drunk corn on the cob lovers!  LOL!  I thought I would share this rather lengthy and picture heavy post with the residents.  I always try to find ways to make delicious dishes that I can freeze or make ahead of time.

Today Grandma and I decided to have our Memorial Day Picnic. We have been working so hard in our yard and it was a perfect day to enjoy it.

What is better than corn on the cob to go with a picnic?  Well, maybe a glass of wine;)

This corn had 2 glasses!

The corn is ready to indulge!  Add lots of butter to a hot skillet.

Then add onions.  I keep a container of caramelized onions on hand at all times.  It takes forever to get them the way I like them so make a batch to add to lots of stuff, (you can freeze them as well).

Assemble your other treasures – Yum! OK – here is a tasty tip.  See that hot sauce? No salt!  Unheard of and it is delicious.  You can order it online.  Tejas Tears.  Don’t you just love the label?  Makes me smile every time I open the fridge.

My Krogers has fresh salsa made up in the veggie sections of the store. That is about a 1/2 cup or more.

In to the frying pan my little sweet and golden lovelies!

Cover and steam.  I kept these on simmering/steaming heat for about an hour.  About 1/2 way into it I added another glass of Chardonnay.

Who uses water?  That is so last summer!  LOL

While the corn was getting drunker and drunker I broiled some onion buns with a slice of Havarti on each side.  Extra cheese please!

Again, I like to do everything as much as possible in advance.  You can do all of this the day before or weeks before if you choose to freeze it.  Pull it out when it is time to eat and just heat up with the zap of a microwave.

Ta da!  The buttery beauty, complete with dog corn holders!  You can’t really see it in this picture but I poured the butter chardonnay sauce all over it.  Your mouth will thank you…

No picnic would be complete without Daisy napkins and the Mayor!  She is such a doll.

Grandma and I had hamburgers grilled on our tiny George Foreman.  Come on!  That thing is amazing.  French fries, deviled eggs, coleslaw and to top it off drunken corn on the cob.  Washed all down with a glass of Chard – heck, have a glass and a half when you are picnicking in your own back yard!

More…there’s no place like home later…Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB eating rainbow corn on the cob!)

Yummy! I love the amount you pour in a glass of wine! I’ve never heard of drunken corn, but certainly love the idea of chardonnay butter. Is that bacon rolled on the corn?

DTT&C – No that is not bacon but I think you just changed the recipe and I cannot wait to try that. That is the salsa rolled on the corn. It was so good. I wish I lived on a corn farm! LOL

OM – I painted that bowl at one of those shops where they fire the piece for you. I was with my nephew when he was about 7 or so. He will be 17 this summer! Wow – where does it go?

Maureen – Grandma and I give Daisy Lynn a taste of wine. About a thimble full from time to time. She loves it! LOL

Oh my that looks so good! Glad you got to enjoy the day. You probably need several glasses of wine each day now that the pool is open
