Wow! The bassethoundtown walking club spring event was a big howlin’ success!!

May 18th, 2015 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset and walking club lovers!  We had so much fun yesterday!  The weather was near perfect, except for one spring downpour which provided some very stinky hounds but in my opinion that added to the fun!  Everyone was laughing and running back to the shelter!

BHTWCS15:8

It was so much fun…gotta love the smell of a wet hound!  Here we have the rear end of Rosebud, Abby, Bumper, Murphy, Tater Tot (I think) and bringing up the rear Ellie!

So, to back up a bit…This is Daisy Lynn and I getting ready to go.  We get there about an hour or so early to set everything up.

BHTWCS15:6

As soon as the hounds arrive they are greeting by both of us and offered the traditional wiener on a silver platter.

Some were so excited they could not contain themselves and let the howls rip!

BHTWCS15:3

This is Nosey Newbold Hall on the left and Rosebud on the right.  It was Rosebud’s one year birthday!  She was adorable!

Then Nosey went over to give Bumper a good sniff!

BHTWCS15:9

“Oh you smell soooooo good big boy!”

BHTWCS15:5

Then we all walked down to the dog park and sprinted back during the spring shower.  We had about 27 – 30 hounds show up.  It was a great turn out.  Lots of new hounds and if I were to guess I think there are about 100 or more that have attended.  By that number I mean about 100 bassets total if they all would come to the same event.  That would be really cool!

Then we come back for the bassethoundtown free gift give aways and chat and smell each other!  LOL

BHTWCS15:1

That is Sam the Dog II and then from the back to the front – Roscoe, Hank, Rosebud, and Ellie.  There were a lot of smaller red and white girls at this party!  That was fun!

Then the party broke up about 3:00ish – and the Mayor was exhausted.  She came home and crashed.  I turned her AC on, fed her and out like a light!

BHTWCS15:4

Marsie, Mom to Nosey and Sam the Dog II took all of these pictures.  Thank you so much Marsie.  I really don’t know what I would do without you.  It is so hectic as you can imagine.

A fun time was had by all…

Gearing up for the bassethoundtown walking club spring event – and I had to share this Evelyn Leavens drawing!

May 13th, 2015 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset and walking hounds lovers…I had to share this wonderful drawing by the late Evelyn Leavens.  I just adore it.  Evelyn sold me the original years ago.  It reminds me a boy that comes to the walking club event.  I am going to frame a small copy of it as a free gift give away this Sunday.

Gosh, Evelyn was such a great artist – miss her everyday!

The Mayor turns weather girl!

May 12th, 2015 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound weather girl lovers…As many in our town know the Mayor is hosting her annual spring walk this Sunday.  As any hostess knows the weather is the most important guest.  So…Daisy Lynn did what all meteorologists do, she looked in her crystal ball…

The sisters of destruction and the deer hunter

May 9th, 2015 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and deer hunter lovers (aka Mayor Daisy Lynn)…Well, we had a situation the other morning that started with the purchase of these 2 emerald and gold euonymus  that Grandma and I purchased the day before.  You see the little ones?  Well they were chewed up last year by the deer in our area.  My plan was to put the little ones in the back yard and then put the new ones in their place.  My dear gardener was coming over the next day.

SOD1

A May heat wave came through and my air conditioner went on the fritz so the windows were wide open.

Here we have Daisy Lynn enjoying many of the fans I have blowing on her.  She was tired from her activities earlier that morning…

SOD2

So 4:37am the morning of this picture Daisy Lynn heard or smelled or both the sisters of destruction.  She went absolute nuts.  Screaming on her perch.  I bolted out of bed and I see one of the sisters with a big clump of the new euonymus in her mouth just as pretty as you please.  I started telling her, “bad deer, no, no, no!”  Daisy Lynn runs to the lady’s room and I let her out because she never barks once I let her out.  Grandma is at the front window upstairs.  She can’t see the deer but I see the other sister, chewing her euonymus cud.  I tell Grandma and she said, “They like their salad bar!” LOL!!!

OK, here is the plan…

SODDH

Taken from the Deer Scram website…

Q-Is Deer Scram a natural product or does it contain harmful or irritating chemicals?

As we’ve said above, Deer Scram is manufactured from all natural, organic components. It’s a truly green product!

Sounds great but lets see…Will the sisters be back? Will the euonymus survive?

As the town turns…

More loving deer but hoping they find another salad bar later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB as dear as deer…

Property Valuation Administration…

May 6th, 2015 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and interesting find lovers.  I routinely check my county’s Property Valuation Administration website to make sure bassethoundtown is reported accurately.

They update the pictures on occasion and I see where they have updated bassethoundtown.  Wow, it looks like we live in the forest section of our town.

OK – Look closer…Is the Mayor surveying her domain?

May 2nd, 2015 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Derby Hat Lovers…Daisy Lynn loves her fashion and today was a day to showcase her style!

Being a KY girl she has to put her best paw forward as she is representing bassethoundtown!

She made a late addition to her hat in honor of the new British Princess.

Here she is looking, “from the manor born”!

DerbyPrincess

Could it be that the infant Princess is giving a nod to our very own Mayor?  Her Mum is wearing a yellow daisy dress!

It certainly was a Daisy Derby Day!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Walking Club Lovers…It’s time to dust off those short legs and get them moving to the Spring Bassethoundtown Walking Club event!  Come one come all low to the ground hounds!!!

BHTWCSPRING15

Yesterday Judy (Mom to Bumper and Abby) and I went off on our traditional deliver the fliers day.  We hit the local hound homes in hopes of catching some in their natural habitat.  We were lucky enough to catch these 2!

BHTWC:1

These 2 girls were out for their morning walk heading home to their sister who is 15 years old!

Judy – do you remember their names?

OK – just about a month away.

It is always so much fun for the hounds to gather into a huge pack.  They just love it.

But for now – Mayor Daisy Lynn in her natural habitat! 8:00am this morning – waiting for the school kids to walk by.

It’s a rainy Sunday in bassethoundtown!

April 19th, 2015 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and rainy Sunday lovers…We took advantage of the pick day of the week which was yesterday and had a glorious picnic in Devou Park, Covington KY.

Here we have Grandma with our young Mayor.  We decided that this was not the best area of the park to picnic.  See those guys down below on the golf course?  Well, they sliced a ball right over our heads!!!  Wow!  That was close…

CC6VETTUIAAk5qo

The rain will fall all day today so a nap is in our forecast for sure…
