Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and keeping warm lovers…The Mayor Daisy Lynn Rudert wants all of the resident hounds to keep safe and warm.

Most of our town (which includes the entire USA) is in critically cold conditions.  So cold.

We must protect the paws of our loved ones…

And the those precious long ears…

Just as an extra precaution I am going to close the dog door tonight.  I don’t want Daisy Lynn going outside without me knowing it.

I always gate off the steps and lock the bottom gate but I don’t even want her on the back porch.  They say it is going to be -10 wind chill tonight.  That would probably be too cold to even go!

It is totally scary cold – and tomorrow is going to be worse…

More loving staying safe later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB basking in perfect hound weather…)

Millville firefighters rescue stuck basset hound as first call in 2015

MILLVILLE — It was barely 2015 when the Millville Fire Department got a call about an 8-year-old basset hound getting her head stuck in a porch railing on New Year’s Day.

It was the department’s first call of the new year.

Firefighters were dispatched to East Main Street on Jan. 1 around 1:40 a.m., according to Capt. John Wettstein.

There they found a basset hound named Betty with her head stuck. In order to get Betty out, the firefighters made quick work of the railing by cutting Betty out with power tools.

“Oh my God, they’re amazing,” said Judy Merlino, Betty’s owner, about the firefighters. “I gave them a huge hug. They were quick to respond.”

While Betty was stuck outside, Merlino’s son Steven tried to use dish soap to free her. When that didn’t work, he wrapped a blanket around her until authorities came to the rescue.

Ever since the rescue, according to Merlino, Betty has continued to be her “wonderful, fat, sassy” self and beg for treats.

END OF ARTICLE…

I was so worried about his exact thing with Daisy Lynn when I brought her home.  I went to Lowes and bought some baby gates to put up and it worked.

You can see them in this picture…

Also, when I had the Ladies Room designed I made sure that the slats were way too close for there ever to be a concern.

Whew…

All is well that ends well for sure…

More loving Betty and her heroic firefighters later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB loving firefighters as well…)
