Buttermilk is not a basset, she’s a mountain goat

July 31st, 2009 - 11:11 pm KY Time
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and goat Lovers! This just in from Marilyn from House of Puddles!
“Buttermilk is not a basset, she’s a mountain goat!”
She climbs up and over anything and anyone to get to me. And she’s quite determined about it.

I’m sure I’ll be getting some better pictures, but in these she had climbed onto the couch (always climbs, never jumps) crawled over the end table and was on her way to climbing onto my little laptop table.

More Buttermilk, I bark therefore I am…….

July 25th, 2009 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and therefore I am lovers………..

Well, Buttermilk and I arrive back home early this morning at 2:30am. I pulled into the garage and Grandma had a crate all set up for her. Most of my dear readers know that I do not bring fosters into my home. So, since we were were only talking hours, I had her in my garage.

By 3:00am we were all asleep.

Grandma went down at 7:00am to tend to her.

img_2487

Buttermilk ate one half cup of kibble and had a lot of water. She also went poo poo potty which we were really proud of.

Grandpa came down to console her with his kind words and petting. Buttermilk really enjoyed her visit with Grandma and Grandpa.

img_2501

Grandpa determined that Buttermilk is not deaf. There was some question about that. Grandpa knows all about this because he has hearing aids and has been throught many tests. I agree with him totally.

Thank you Grandpa for your evaluation. Buttermilk is not deaf!

Then I came down in my ABC shirt to pose with our girl!

img_2498

Now it is time to load in the Element! What a good girl, she found her seat! We have to go collect Pearl!

img_2512

OK – who is this kid? It’s Pearl! She is on the transport too. Heading to NJ!

img_2516

Off to Columbus we go………………

Both kids were fantastic and the day was fine, just ask Pearl! She has a forever home she will be at tonight!

img_2540

Hey it’s the nice ladies on the next leg!

img_2552

I love you Bette!

Time to go to………..

Nice to meet you! Have fun at your forever homes!

img_2555

One last thought, before I go to House of Puddles…………

img_2557

We love you Buttermilk, more than all of the butter in the world.

More Loving her later………Cat, Chaps and Emma

More about early this morning 2:00am (7-25-09)! Not to be missed!

July 25th, 2009 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and more about early in the morning lovers! It was such a sight to see. The people were so nice as you would imagine. Who else would agree to drive those kinds of miles round trip. It was probably like 20 hours total for both vans. Plus the New York guys had to take the hounds to forever homes or foster homes.

Here we are:

img_2441

ROGER, GABR – CAT, BASSETHOUNDTOWN – TOM, ABC – AND ROGER’S FRIEND, GABR,
WHO I CANNOT REMEMBER HIS NAME! (HOW LAME AM I?)

Here is the guy who was taking the above picture, GARY, ABC, who is getting all of the paper work from Roger for the hounds to travel. They came from GA and are headed for upstate New York.

img_2445

Time to release the hounds…………..

img_2448

I just want to mention again, that these photos are really bad. I had Buttermilk (pink leash) and the situation was complete hound mania. Look how good our Buttermilk is mixing with the pack! She loved the group so the HOP will work so good for her!

Then Tom took off with 4 hounds and headed to the park.

img_2450

This is not a great area of Northern, KY. All went without a hitch, but the bars were letting out and the drunks were in full force. Two cars wrecked right in front of us. That turned out to be a good thing for us because the Police were around checking out the wreck. Even the Canine Patrol showed up!

img_2472

This picture does not show a lot but let me give you the visual. The officer drove by and did a triple take of our group after his canine officer went totally berserk! The human officer was laughing. I could see his shoulders shaking and I saw him give his fellow officer a pat on the head. It was so funny. When they pulled up to that red light, the entire patrol car was shaking from the barking. It was totally fitting based upon the shake, shake, shake blog I did. It was my own little personal joke that I could not wait to tell all of my readers! hehehe

Here is Tom with his houndage in the park……

img_2458

Now we are heading back to the vans. I think I accomplished the near impossible all 8 hounds and 4 people. (Buttermilk and I not included)!

img_2465

This is funny, at this point a group of people were across the street and I heard one of them say, “Something is, coming down. They have the dogs out searching for someone!” Then the guy that I cannot remember his named turned to me and said, “that group has alot more faith in these hounds than I do!” We laughed and I of course I said, “they are only searching for treats!” It was so funny!

And the laughs continued. This very drunk guy wandered up and just stood there. I heard him mumbling about how there must be at least 100 cats getting in that van. OMG!
Remember, I told you about this section of town?

img_2475

Finally, he stumbled down the road when another patrol car cruised by.

It’s time to load up and head out to upstate NY.

img_2480

I think if hounds could talk they would say, “Thank you GA and NY”. Of course Buttermilk would say, “Thank you HOP and Marilyn”!

Well, it is time to take off. This guy wants to especially say,

“Thank you for finding me a forever home!” This face makes it all worth it!

img_2486

Buttermilk and I high tailed it home (running a few yellow lights) and she was the perfect house guest.

Special thanks go out to GA Basset Hound Rescue for taking care of all of Buttermilk’s bills and transport to Covington, KY. You are the best!

More about the transport of Buttermilk later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Buttermilk slept good………

July 25th, 2009 - 7:07 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wondering how things are going lovers! Well, everything went without a hitch. It was a real pleasure meeting everyone involved last night. I am on a tight schedule so I am just going to post a few pictures and when I get back today I post the rest.

I left my home at 1:15am and pulled into the meeting spot about 15 minute later…

img_2437

How cool is this basset hauling vehicle? This next picture is totally grainy but I had to over expose it to try to show you how they arrived.

img_2434

This is Buttermilk on the right, in the back……

img_2438

She is definitely not deaf. My Mom and Dad did a test on her this morning while she was eating a small amount. That was really good news.

I am going to end this adventure for the moment because I need to load the car and get going but I wanted all of my dear readers to know what was going on and how good Buttermilk did. I have a few stories and many more pictures to follow.

Oh, and by the way, I am wearing my All Basset Cherished Shirt today in honor of ABC!

More honoring later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

I had to flip a coin!

July 25th, 2009 - 12:12 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and flipping a coin lovers! Heads was GA, and Tails was NY

Well, as you can see the Basset Hound Resuce of GA T-shirt won over the All Bassets Cherished T-shirt.

photo-157

No sleep and wet hair but I’m not complaining. Just think about those guys from GA and NY pulling a 16 hour R/T haul!!!!!!!! Wow, now that is what you call rescue work!

I am walking out the door right now.

The kids are still in bed.

More rescue stories later…….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Midnight train from GA 1/2 hour ahead of schedule!

July 24th, 2009 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and midnight train from GA lovers. I have just confirmed that both drivers are about 1/2 hour ahead of schedule. The midnight train has 9 bassets on board. Now that is going to be a sight!

That maks us meeting up at 1:30am, just a few short hours away. I tried to get some shut eye earlier but not so much…..The hounds are sleeping good.

Well, I just wanted to update everyone.

Much, much more later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
