February 15th, 2017 - 10:10 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Heart Day Lovers…Yesterday was Valentine’s Day and we sure hope you had a nice heart warming day.  Guess what?  I did!!!  I finished my freakin’ taxes that I had been working on for a month.  Gawd I hate taxes.  Gawd I love getting them done!!!  LOL

So to celebrate Grandma and I had a margarita and a photo shoot with the Mayor…

HVD

Is her little cowboy hat with a heart just too cute?

More loving her heart everyday…and finishing taxes…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB where there are no taxes…;)

Joe Ekiss 4/3/11 – 2/5/17 CH Ambrican Wishbones Giacomo

February 12th, 2017 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Joe Ekiss Lovers…I was one of those who loved Joe but no one loved him more than his family who had to help Joe cross over the rainbow bridge on 2/5/17.  Joe was not even 6.

Joe Ekiss
4/3/11   –  2/5/17

CH Ambrican Wishbones Giacomo

“He was the life of the party.
A Perfect Dog
Taken away too early by Lymphoma.

He was in chemo treatment and even though it looked promising at first he succumbed to the cancer just over 6 months after diagnosis.  He did not even come close to beating the odds.  It is an aggressive and awful cancer. Joey never suffered until the very last.

There is such emptiness in our home now. The immense grief is hard to bear.
He gave us such joy and happiness I can barely live with the sorrow.

A beautiful life cut short. Not even 6 years old.
Godspeed on your trip over the Rainbow Bridge little guy.
We miss you so much.

He came to us in November 2014 from Penny and Randy Frederikson.  He had been co-owned by Rev. Marshall and Mary Ruth Moore.
Bred by Joe and Sharon Mollica.”

Giacomo - Joe portrait

Joe, English for Giacomo was an Ambrican Champion – Wishbone Giacomo was born on 4/3/11 and came to the Ekiss family around the time of his new Mom’s birthday.

What a present indeed!!!

Giacomo - Joe

Here they all are soon after Joe arrived at his new home.  In the bottom right hand corner…Emily, his new sister and dear companion.  Emily was so happy to welcome Joe into the family fold…

The journey begins as Joe fits into his new family perfectly.  Joe was 3 and 1/2 years old now.

Joe1

He was adored and loved.  He bonded quickly and firmly with his new sister.

Joe2

The family loves to travel in a big motor home and Joey thought he was king of the road!

Joe3

It is so important to greet each day with joy and cherish every moment.

Joe4

Because you just never know when those precious times will be interrupted by disease.  Damn you cancer…

Joe5

You took Joey way too soon.  It’s not fair.

Joe6

Joe, you made the world a better place and enriched many souls along the way.  The time your paws wandered this earth was way, way too short but your energy will live on in our hearts forever…

Joey leaves behind his Daddy, Mommy and sister Emily…

Joe7

With dog speed and eternal gratitude we bid you passage across the rainbow bridge.  I ask those reading this that you please light a candle in Joey’s honor and memory…

Joe’s Daddy states,

“Also we lost Katy (Katherine Zeta) at 11 years old to cancer in June of 2014 shortly before we had Joey come into our lives. What a blessing he was because our sorrow was so deep. She should be looking for him over the Rainbow Bridge now.

Our other Basset Emily is 10 years old and she acutely feels the loss. First Katy – now Joe. She is very lonely again.  Sniffs around for him all the time. It’s hard to watch her as she seems so forlorn.”

More loving these gentle and majestic souls later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB with Joe and Katy…)

Facebook Find Of The Day, Perhaps the Year!!!

February 12th, 2017 - 7:07 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Facebook Find of the Day Lovers…I thought this was so funny I had to share…

If you are on facebook you will know there are thousands of pages and places devoted to basset hounds.  It’s almost overwhelming and there is no way one person can keep up.

But I was laughing so hard at this I had to share…

Click on the image so it gets bigger…

More loving the addiction later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB RORBLOL;) rolling on rainbow laughing out loud…

OK, We just finished the DIY project in the kitchen and turns out we have mad skills!!!

February 6th, 2017 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and DIY lovers.  As most of us know when we start a job it often takes on a life of its own.  Well, this kitchen project was no different but boy o boy was it worth it!!!

OK, the pic to the left is the before (Really???)  LOL – You can see the water damage.  Mom and I looked for about a year for the perfect affordable solution and we came up with the picture on the right…

I still had some of the original blue rope tile to finish off the glass mosaic stick on tile.  It is just beautiful and as you can see the sun hits it.  I also did the flex shot caulk at the bottom so no more water damage…

BeforeAfterKitchen1

Here on the right is the other side of that area.  It is called a garage and that little roll top goes up and it has all of my hound bowls, food and treats in there.  That little roll top door had turned yellow with age so we painted it!!!

You can see all of the grease splatter on the wood and it just looked disgusting.  Now it looks like we should have our own DIY show on the home network or whatever it is called!!!

See howl yellow that little roll top door is?  Also, I switch the night lights…

DIYKitchen2

Here is another shot of that same area…

Wow – Now I can wipe it down and keep it clean.  Love it!!!

IMG_0606

Moving right along…

I did not take a before shot of this area because I did not think I was doing it.  But remember all jobs grow and grow and grow!!!

This was pretty banged up as well…You can see our Mayor was not too impressed because I was not attending to her dinner before her dinner time!!!

IMG_0607

A closer shot of the same area…Can you believe that I had the exact correct size of blue rope tile for this placement as well?  Come on…That never happens but the tile gods graced us with their glory!!!

IMG_0608

OK, so flipping around to the other side.  Again, I had no intention of doing any work on the other side so I did not get great before but you can kinda see it…

See the lava lamp?  Well that piece behind it is where my crock pot sits and it had done some staining to that area and well, it’s wood and you just can’t get out the stains…

DIYKitchen4

Here is a better picture of the after…

IMG_0612

Wow – that was hard.  I had to stand on the counter and place a lot of cut pieces…Whew, was glad when that was done…

So, to polish it off I decided to do the kick board that circles the underneath of the kitchen.

DIYKitchen5

We just love it and now no more dirty scuffs or dog slobber.  Daisy Lynn is our best basset for staying out of the kitchen. She was really easy to train on that.  Bless her pea pickin’ heart!

So, that is the end of this DIY project.  I am so happy to share it with the residents…

The End…

Hahahahahaha – I took this picture as I was sitting on the floor taking the picture of the kick plate…Love it!

IMG_0616

More loving “The End” later and waiting for the Home Network to call…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB wondering whose slobber is on the kick plate thing;)

OMDog!!! Mother/Doghter matching snoods #twining…

January 31st, 2017 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Mother/Doghter matching snood lovers…As many of the residents know I have been designing and selling lines of snoods for about a decade or more.  I have stunning snoods in my inventory and will be adding them over time.

But for now!  Feast your eyes on this ensemble!

Mother:doghtersnoods

Mayor Daisy Lynn and I are modeling faux black mink and faux grey chinchilla snoods.  Mine is reversible and is so warm you would not believe it.  Unfortunately, my human snood is just a prototype but I am looking for more of the exact material.

Pretty cute huh?

More loving Mother/Doghter matching snoods later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB wearing rainbow snoods…)

Holding hands with our late Mayor…

January 29th, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Holding Hands Lovers…Wow – I have gotten really behind lately with my blogging.  I really cannot explain it.  I still have not taken pictures of my fierce kitchen DIY project…

But I did run across this old picture from 2009 and I had to share.  I don’t think I have ever posted it because I was embarrassed at howl long our Chaps nails were.  Makes me cry now thinking that would stop me.  What a stupid thing to be embarrassed about.

holdinghands

Himz was such PROFOUND HOUND…

More being Profound less feeling embarrassed FOR SURE!!! Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB with giant beautiful rainbow paws…with long nails;)

Before pics…bassethoundtown kitchen DIY

January 26th, 2017 - 8:08 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and DIY lovers…Gawd it was hard to get motivated for our DIY project but we finally did with the help of a prodding Mayor!

These are some of the supplies Grandma and I got together to start the project.

DIY1

Grandpa designed this kitchen about 18 years ago.  It is timeless and stunningly beautiful – however timeless, time has taken it toll in some areas…

This is next to my sink and the water damage along with staining is just down right gross…

DIY2

Of course as it is with all projects it took on a life of it’s own.  It exploded into a bigger project and hours and hours of work for the team aka Grandma, Daisy Lynn and I…

But it is done and looks fabulous.  I will have share time later today or tomorrow.  I have to take the pictures still…

More thinking up our next DIY project later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB buying rainbow Flexshot…;)

Talking Chaps Wayne Rudert…

January 20th, 2017 - 11:11 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Talking Chaps Lovers…I love my talking Chaps and I hope you do as well.  Wow, talking Chaps has been greeting bassethoundtown residents for over a decade. Can you even believe that? He appears on my home page and on the Wisenheimer Wisdom page.  I still remember designing the talking Chaps.  It was so much fun.  The company that does this is called Sitepal and to keep Chaps up and talking cost about 200.00 dollars per year.

I just love himz so much…

Here he is with the late Lily Pad Serina VonFirstenburg, aka “The Child”

TalkingChaps

Here is a video I did for sitepal 10 years ago of Chaps “talking”.  I kept giving himz peanut butter so his mouth would move and the animation team could create him in his best likeness.  It was a lot of fun.

I miss him so much…

He was my big, big Burger Boy…He was such a great boy…

More loving my Chaps later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (The wonderkind himself, and Emma ATB)

January 12th, 2017 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and missing the flowers lovers…When you see a picture like this it just makes you sigh.  Deep into winter you realize times like this are pretty far off…

Miss

Regardless, the memory just makes me smile – looks like your Mayor is as well…

More smiling for spring and summer later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB smiling in fields of rainbow flowers…)
