October 30th, 2009 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Cleaning Lady Lovers! LOL – Today Grandma starting to clean a few things around my house in an effort to get me ready for a card party I am having on Monday. It always takes longer than you think…………..

IMG_4214

Especially, when the Mayor decides to “Help”!

IMG_4225

The Mayor then plants his larger than life paw on Grandma’s foot. “Grandma, you and I can just stay in the kitchen.”!

“We need to take it easy!”

IMG_4226

Words Emma does not cotton up to today!

Just look at her smelling his breath to see if he got an extra treat! He did not! We would never cheat Emma out of a treat!

More getting back to work later…..Love, Cat, Chaps, Emma and Grandma!

1999, a few years past the disco era but Chloe and Lily still keep it mighty real!

October 29th, 2009 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Disco Lovers! Well, OK, I will admit it! I was a disco Queen. l still am! I guess there is not much music that I do not like.

In 1999 Grandma and I made these disco tube tops for Chloe and Lily. I will showcase a few better ones on Howlloween but this picture was them trying on the tops for Mommy and Grandma.

IMG_3906

As you can see, the shine is blinding Lily’s face. Just like the 70s.

I went over to the fabric store in Cincinnati where all of the drag queens shop and found this orange tube top material. I recall there was a bit of an incident between myself and
“Sweet Evening Breeze” as to who was going to get this material. Even though she had 2 feet (in heels) and 50 pounds (with makeup) on me I won. OK – the owner found another bolt in the back! But it was still funny!

Then I added snaps underneath. I thought it would be comfortable for the kids and they would be the hit of the neighborhood. Of course they were!

Que music, TURN THE BEAT AROUND! And my dear readers you can,
RING OUR BELL, BELL, BELL, RING OUR BELL!

More photos from 1999 Howlloween very soon! Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Howllo, can I help you?

October 29th, 2009 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Yellow Lab Receptionist Lovers! Today I was running errands and went to Emma’s vet to pick up her special diet food! I was greeted by the receptionist, Walter!

IMG_4209

“Yes Mame, howl can I help you?”

“Walter – I am here to pick up Emma’s special diet food.”

“No problem, Ms. Rudert.”

IMG_4210

“Can I help you out to your car with that?”

“No Walter, but thank you very much. You can go back to making appointments!”

More loving Walter later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

The very rare and illusive long haired basset hounds roam portions of Florida! hehehe

October 29th, 2009 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Rare Roaming Long Hair Lovers! LOL! OMG! Look at our new residents of basset hound town, Harley and Daisy Mae!

Harley and Daisy Mae

These rare creatures roam the back deck of their Mommy, Kathi in Tallahassee, FL. One may even be able to capture of glimpse of them as they sun themselves on the couches of said home. hehehe

I heard there was to be a docu-drama based upon this rare and unique couple!

OK – I am a bit crazy, but that is what went through my mind when I saw them. I think Grandma almost had a heart attack thinking of the hair that might be associated with them!

Here is another picture of the day that Momma Kathi picked up Daisy Mae from Suncoast Basset Hound Rescue! ( on the right) She thinks that Harley and Daisy Mae may be related, but there is no proof of that.

Daisy Mae and Harley

I just think they are the cutest couple ever! Harley is 13 and Daisy Mae is 12 and 1/2.

More rare long hair later……Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. Maybe Dyson is secretly releasing them into the wild!

We had an orange morning in basset hound town!

October 29th, 2009 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Orange Morning Lovers: This morning, when the sun came up, it created the most beautiful orange hue in my living room. Everything was orange! I could not capture the inside but the kids and I went out in the front to take a few shots.

IMG_4199

The sun was hitting all of the beautiful trees and throwing this orange glow all over the place. Very cool. This is the little tree in front of my house and it was like a spot light was on it. I guess there was, the sun!

IMG_4202

Even the kids had an orange glow!

IMG_4207

They both love orange! They get a bit of cheese every morning after breakfast.

Hurry Mommy, I want my cheese!

IMG_4206

It was so cool, and then it was gone…….

More loving, lovely little moments and orange tinted hounds later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Sign of the times…bonded Sr. male bassets out in the cold

October 26th, 2009 - 3:03 pm KY Time

Pending…..

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Bonded Sr. Basset Hound lovers: Well, like I said, it is a sign of the times. People are still losing their homes to foreclosure and pets like humans suffer as well. Over the weekend I learned of this Sr. bonded pair of male basset hounds in the Cleveland, OH area that are in need of a new home. I spent a fair amount of time talking with their Mom and learning about the couple. The bonded pair are currently living in the garage with a dog door to the back yard. Their Mom’s home is being foreclosed upon and she is living in an apartment that will not allow dogs. The bank wants the dogs out of the home ASAP.

Their Mom told me that the eldest is 12 and is a long haired basset hound.

OK? A long haired basset hound? I told their Mom, I need pictures. So, here is Spotty Joe, 12 years old, neutered and very loving….with long hair!

Spotty Joe

He loves kids. How often have you seen a long haired basset hound? I have once or twice. His Mommy said he came from a breeder in Southern, OH.

Spotty Joe 2

Here is his belly up pose. His birthday is in April.

Spotty Joe 3

One more of Spotty Joe. The poor guys are getting really depressed. Their Mom has tried most of the Cleveland area rescues. Of course the pound is not an option.

SJ side shot

Ohio Basset Hound Rescue cannot take them. They are full and boarding at kennels. Marilyn at HOP knows about the pair. She is at 20 which is over capacity. She is bursting at the seams. She is helping me with networking.

Now for Spotty Joe’s best friend, Rocky…..

Rocky

Rocky is 9, neutered and uses Spotty Joe as a pillow. They are extremely bonded and must be placed together.

Rocky again

Rocky came from a pet store in Akron, OH. His birthday is in July.

Rocky side shot

You can see the gray on his head. They both love kids and other dogs. They have been away from their family for months and need a place to land.

both boys alone

This is them in their back yard. It’s going to get cold out soon and plus the bank won’t let them stay.

Both boys again

I told their Mom I would help. I have called their vet and have confirmed their ages. Neither one has been to the vet in a few years.

Times are ruff and the family pets are in just as much need of help. I don’t want to know all of the details of what went down for this family, I just want to get these guys out of the garage and onto a couch.

Both boys

Anyone???????????

I will keep everyone posted on this pair. They are certainly a work in progress for Basset Hound Town……

More loving gray faces later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma

I love Marmaduke!

October 26th, 2009 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Marmaduke Lovers! When I saw this comic in the paper this morning, I had to share! Classic Marmaduke!

They must be watching ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN!

More classic fun later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Take a stroll through town with the hounds!

October 25th, 2009 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and walking through the town lovers……

We took a really nice stroll today through basset hound town. It was just beautiful today. We just love the park and today we loved it again!

IMG_4116

One thing we always try to do is visit this very special tree. I should have taken a picture of the entire tree, but I fell down on the job! This tree is dedicated to a man named Harold J. Wehrle.

IMG_4127

The person who loves Harold J. Wehrle always decorates the tree. Now it is decorated with everything Halloween related. I googled Harold, but I could not find anything. He appears to have been in the Canine Corps. We always love to pay our respects.

IMG_4135

Then we moved on down the park lane finding place after place to take wonderful pictures! Just stunning!

Hi Grandma! Emma loves, “looking” at her Grandma!

IMG_4151

Now for the artsy shot! This should win a contest, if I don’t say so myself!

IMG_4157

Now we are leaving the park and Chaps spots a West Highland White Terrier. Oddly enough it was walking up Highland Ave. Look how hard Chaps is pulling on his harness! I can barely hold him. I had to crack up over his rear end. He is really digging in!

IMG_4181

“Mommy, is that a dog?”

IMG_4180

449544247_FvwrR-M

Ah, time for a dinner and a nap! Look how good Emma does on steps now. She is such a joy. Just a note, I am freaking out. Where did her tail go in this picture? I did nothing to alter any of the pictures beyond sharpening. This is weird!

IMG_4185

More sharing joy later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
