Happy Birthday Isaac Newton!

January 4th, 2010 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Isaac Newton Lovers:

I was cracking up this morning when I logged on to Google and saw that apple drop. My eyes were not quite open yet and I thought it was a lady bug on my screen. I was afraid to touch it! Google likes to do these graphic designs to celebrate different things and I really enjoy their designs. This is my favorite one so far!

Here is the article that came up when I Googled “Google falling apple”.

No, Google’s Doodle isn’t celebrating Chrome’s passing of Apple’s Safari browser or knocking off any of Apple’s products. The falling Apple is to commemorate the Birthday of Isaac Newton, who was born on January 4th, 1643.

If he hadn’t died of cranial complications related to gravitational forces displayed on pomaceous fruits, he would have been 392 today (he died of natural causes at a ripe old age).

Issac Newton’s name was also the inspiration for Apple’s previous tablet adventure, the Newton, which also died an unceremonious death at the hands of Apple.

Perhaps you’ve heard: Apple is getting ready to wheel out another tablet soon. There’s little hope of them calling it the Newton however, the unpopular ‘iSlate’ seems to be slated for this tablet.

Google’s set to reveal their Nexus One phone at tomorrow’s special event, though most of the details have already been leaked. It likely won’t make a dent in the commotion caused by Apple’s January 26th event however, which hasn’t even been announced yet.

End of article……

Here is a picture of the Mayor taking some apples to the teacher after a Lily book reading. He is always the Teacher’s Pet!

Chaps and Emma want to show off their toys from his son’s family!

January 3rd, 2010 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and showing off our toys lovers! If you recall, I left my camera at my sisters home. I was not able to showcase these toys from Chaps sons family until now. Grandma washed all of the kids toys yesterday and washing day is always so traumatic. Chaps can become despondent and even sick missing his favorite toy. But, we had a treat in store for him! His Christmas gifts from his son. It was perfect! He was excited by the gifts!

IMG_5096

Emma was over whelmed with joy! She grabbed her new toy and headed for her bed!

Here she is getting into her comfort corner!

Left overs…

January 3rd, 2010 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Left Over Lovers:

This post does not really have anything to do with basset hounds, except that they love left overs! LOL….

Anyway, I just thought I would tell my left over story that turned out very good. I had eggs, butter, stale bread, bits of cheese, spinach dip, Swiss cheese spread, fried onion rings and a few bacon bits.

I melted the butter in the baking bowl and added the stale bread that I dunked in the spinach dip. Then I whipped the eggs with the bacon bits and added it over the bread adding some fried onion rings from the NYE party. Then, I added more of the stale bread pushed under the egg mixture with the Swiss cheese spread to the top and covered it with the left over shredded Havarti cheese. Then I doused it with Tabasco.

I baked it at 350 for about an hour because it was a deep dish. You have to keep checking it depending on your oven.

IMG_5095

The mixture was well below the top of the bowl when I started and I put a piece of foil underneath it. The stale bread was full of the mixture and it was really good.

It was totally yummy. I had 3 meals out of it.

Chaps and Emma got a bit of the bread infused with egg below the Tabasco.

Chaps would not leave the kitchen for hours after his bite. He loves left overs!

Himz loves a good left over souffle!

Christmas pictures in from Chaps son and his family!

January 3rd, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Chaps son’s family lovers! Over the weekend we received these pictures from Colby Chaps Mommy. I had so much fun looking at them and of course you know I had to share!

Let’s start off with the Mayor’s son! This is the toy we sent to him. I actually let the kids play with it for a few days before I wrapped it up and sent it to him. Audra, does he enjoy toys? I know his Dad does. He adores toys.

IMG_4742

Next up we have little Abby! Colby Chaps sister who was rescued off the streets of TX by Audra’s Mom.

IMG_4744

We did the same thing with all of the toys. Little Abby looks so good. She had a ruff life before this family scooped her up off the streets.

Audra’s Mom and Dad have 3 bassets!

Clancy with his toy!

Bailey with his toy……

And Richard with his toy…..

This guy looks all tuckered out.

Thank you so much for sending us these wonderful pictures! Happy New Year to our other family in TX!

This absolutely should be against the law….

January 2nd, 2010 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and I am so mad I can’t stand it lovers: This advertisment just came across the wires from Austin Texas.

“Hi! I have 2 Beautiful Bassett hound Girls that long to have puppies of thier own.. If you live in the austin area or the surrounding areas of Texas… I will pay the stud service fee. Please call me at 512-293-7604 or email me on this site. Thanks, Karl

END OF AD

TX

Comment from Cat…..

This is so wrong on so many levels. Karl, does not even know how to spell the word basset to start with. Now Austin Texas will have at least 10 to 14 extra basset hound puppies due to the stupidity and greed of Karl. The basset rescues are bursting at the seams and this guy wants to add to the population. Karl thinks that these girls are longing to have puppies of their own. What total nonsense. I wonder why Karl can’t just say he is longing to make money off the backs of these girls, whom by the way are grossly in need of a toe nail clipping. What these girls are longing for is to be spayed. I also wonder if Karl will report his income to the IRS when he sells the puppies.

I wonder how many basset hounds are in rescues, shelters and and pounds in TX. How many are being put down as Karl tells us his girls long to have puppies. This should absolutely be against the law.

I would love to know how many basset hounds are in TX. Does TX really need this back yard breeder?

If you go to the BHCA website and look at the list of breeders in TX it is extremely long. Actually shockingly long. I see that some of the names are listed twice, like in the case of Richard and Sharon Nance.

2010 Calendars continued….

January 2nd, 2010 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Sr. Hounds Abound Calendar Lovers! This morning I was looking for a place to hang my Sr. Hounds Abound Calendar and I decided on the kitchen. I view this calendar as beautiful art that I will enjoy all year long. The stunning Buttermilk is the January Calendar Girl.

The first thing I do every morning is go to the kitchen. What a wonderful way to start my day!

IMG_5085

Also, there are hounds pictured most every day. My dearly departed Chloe is on January the 4th.

IMG_5091

Here is a better look at the lovely Chloe!

100_0137

And as many of my readers well know, the Mayor is featured in October. The month of his wonderful birth. I am going to take of picture of him next to his month later today. He is currently looking out the window at a few kids playing across the street. I cannot disturb him during this extremely serious business.

More Calendar updates later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Working on my 2010 calendar…

January 1st, 2010 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and working on your calendar lovers! Every year we have to update our calendars with all of our important dates. It is such a job and last year I just hung my previous year calendar behind the current one. This year, I got back into the groove and updated my 2010 Sr. Hounds Abound Calendar with all of my info! OK, you guessed it. It is because I am so proud of it. Our Mayor is Mr. October! Anyway, while I was busy doing this our Emma wandered back in the office and laid down next to our Mayor. I was taken by howl long she looked. So, I took out my trusty tape measure and tip toed next to her and laid it down.

IMG_5075

She did not move. Here is the next amazing finding….

IMG_5073

It looks like she is over a yard long! Here is the proof!

IMG_5076

I was cracking up when I saw this picture and the dog hairs. I just mopped this floor yesterday!

And then she moved into her Ying Yang position with our Mayor!

IMG_5080

Just a little moment in time for 2010. You might want to mark it on your calendar!

More Ying Yang later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Ambigrams are so cool!

January 1st, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow basset hound and Ambigram lovers! Do you know what an Ambigram is? I was not real sure of the word but I kind of knew about the meaning! Julian and his Mom bought me this T-Shirt and apparently the words Chaps and Emma are perfect for creating an ambigram. How cool is that? OK, so here are the pictures of my T-Shirt. This one is of Chaps modeling his name.

IMG_5051

Here is another one a bit closer….

IMG_5056

Then , you turn it around and model the T-Shirt on our Emma and it becomes her name! PAWSOME!

IMG_5062

Here is her close up shot of the Ambigram….

IMG_5060

Don’t cha just love it? I sure do. Chaps and Emma together forever!
