Dogs….

June 23rd, 2008 - 6:06 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and special people lovers: I was sniffing around the web and ran across this man’s site again. I just love places like this. I want to visit soooooooooo bad. I will. I know I will. Chaps and Emma would love it.

I love this quote from Mr. Huneck about dogs.

“I really believe they’re the great spirit’s special gift to mankind,” said Mr. Huneck, 59. “Dogs teach us more than we teach them.”

Howllo Fellow Hound and drawings of Chaps lovers! I received some drawings of Chaps in the mail yesterday from Linda’s kids Eric and Megan. This is Eric with Cindy Lou in her new snood and Megan is in the background.

This spectacular drawing was done by Eric who is nine. The detail is spot on and I love it! My favorite part is his smile. This is a treasured piece of art work and hangs in my kitchen.

This next treasured drawing was done by Megan and she is five years old. I just love the crown! Chaps is a King!

Both of these masterpieces hang in my kitchen and I just love them! Thank you Eric and Megan.

Is Chaps an old man?

June 21st, 2008 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and aging hound lovers! Is my baby boy an old man? I kind of got a wake up call this week when my vet told me that Chaps needed a geriatric blood panel done prior to his teeth cleaning. My heart kind of sunk and I said, “geriatric”?

My vet said, “Cat he is going to be 8 years old this year, that is considered geriatric”.

I looked down at my old man and I did see a whiter face, less freckles on that beautiful snout, more grey around the eyes. sweetchaps.jpg

He is my old man and I am going to take care of him. Let’s get that geriatric blood panel and get this guy’s teeth cleaned. It is so important for their health.

It is going to cost about 300 dollars and it is worth every penny! I will let you know when his appointment is.

P.S. I wonder if Emma had anything to do with that extra grey hair? hehehehe

From one Mayor to another….

June 20th, 2008 - 4:04 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Mayor lovers: offwego.jpg
caseoflilybooks.jpg

We set off this morning to donate a case of Lily books to the
Northern KY Woman’s Crisis Center. We could think of no better way to honor the late Junior Cochran, Mayor of Rabbit Hash, KY and spokespet for the
Northern KY Women’s Crisis Center Pet Protection Program.

catemmachaps.jpg

Here we are loaded into the Element. It is a tight squeeze, but look how good we look! Emma was having the time of her life. Chaps was a bit worried he was going to the vet, because we went yesterday to get toe nails clipped.

catbrandon1.jpg

We met the cutest little red headed boy with his Mom and the kids went nuts. That little boy was smiling from ear to ear. Here I am pictured with Brandon. He met me there with his Mom, Lisa so he could carry the case of books and help me with the kids. Brandon is a great guy that I LOVE! Thank-you Brandon for helping me! Lisa, I hope that Chaps did not make you pull a muscle! hehehehe!

catbrandon.jpg

You might not be able to read the poster behind me but it says, “In a violent family everyone could be a victim”. It shows a downtrodden dog. Bassethoundtown.com wants to help! We plan on donating more books and other items that they need. I will keep you posted. Chaps has offered his services as the Center’s Pet Protection Program Spokespet. If he does not get the job, he will help whoever does.

It was a great Take Your Dog To Work Day! Our pay was that little red headed boy’s smile!

Today is Take your Dog to Work Day! Yeah!

June 20th, 2008 - 6:06 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hounds and take your dog to work day lovers:

Chaps and Emma are getting ready for their big day of going to work. Since they work with me everyday out of my home we will venture out to other work environments. Our most important stop will be the Woman’s Crisis Center of Northern Kentucky. We are going to deliver a case of 40 Lily books in honor of their dearly departed spokespet, Junior.

Junior was the elected Mayor of a small town in Northern KY called Rabbit Hash. This is all very true folks! Below is his picture with the article just published in the paper. This is where I got the idea to donate a case of Lily books in his honor to the Woman’s Crisis Center. It will be a privilege.

junior.jpg

Mayor Junior passed away on May 17th, just 2 days shy of his 13th birthday. Thankfully, he did not have to be euthanized, (which was especially easier on his “people”), and mainly died of old age. Although Junior was diagnosed with lymphoma last fall, he was able to live well in his remaining days.

According to the Mayor’s owner, Jane Cochran, “Junior died peacefully in his yard after taking a long pee and smelling the flowers.”

Evidently Junior loved being mayor of Rabbit Hash. “He’d get so excited when we’d get out his red, white and blue bandanna. He tried to serve his town well,” Jane added.

Junior was born and raised in Rabbit Hash, KY. A working retriever, Junior traveled by car extensively around the country. His all-time favorite states (besides KY and OH) were Texas, Montana and North Dakota. He also donated his time to help others and served as the “spokesdog” for the Northern KY Women’s Crisis Center Pet Protection Program.

Junior was buried next to his mother, Belle, and his father, Herb in the woods on the Cochran property. We will all surely miss him here in Rabbit Hash.

—-end of article—–

I think Lily will touch a lot of women and children. She would be very proud of herself.

Please stay tuned for more updates as our visit unfolds.

Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
