Famous Basset Hound Alert!

April 12th, 2014 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Famous Hound Lovers…I was just over at facebook sniffing around and was pleased to learn that one of my “friends” visited this statue in Budapest Hungry!

PeterFaulkandhound

Yes dear residents it is none other than Peter Faulk of Columbo and his trusty side kick “Dog”.

“Budapest has paid tribute to dishevelled detective Lieutenant Columbo by erecting a statue in honour of Peter Falk, the man who brought the classic TV character to life.

Born in New York, the late actor had Hungarian ancestry and said his great-grandfather could have been the Hungarian writer and politician Miksa Falk.

Peter Falk died in Beverly Hills at the age of 83 in 2011.”

I think it is fairly new.  Just thought I would share!

More loving famous basset hounds later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB hanging out in Hungry!)

PS – A little know fact…

Columbo’s dog was originally called Fang. The spin-off series KATE LOVES A MYSTERY (MRS. COLUMBO)/NBC/1979 featured the wife of Detective Columbo, Kate Columbo (Kate Mulgrew) who owned a lazy basset hound dog named Whitefang.

Rosemary Lemon Spinach Chicken Pepper Quesadilla…

April 6th, 2014 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Healthy Feel Good Meal Lovers.  This is a meal for humans!

I thought I would post this here because oddly it is something you can make after the natural and holistic flea spray.  You have some of the ingredients so why not?  When you get the stuff to make the flea spray you can pick up a few more things for this feel good meal!

I bought a huge baked and breaded chicken breast from the Whole Foods Deli (no antibiotics no GMOs) and sliced it into 4 small plastic cups.  I normally put them in the freezer for future use.

I added a big sprig of Rosemary and about 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice.  I saute the mixture until the pan is hot and coated with some of the oils from the baked chicken breading.

LPC1

Then you take it out of the skillet and pitch the rosemary.

Add a tortilla (more about that later)…

Add Havarti cheese and spinach…

LPC2

Then add the chicken and more cheese…

LPC3

Now for the top tortilla.

LPC4

Depending on your skillet you might need a bit of oil.  I did not use any because I kept flipping it by laying a plate over top to change sides.

Press so the bottoms brown…Also, you can see the edges getting kind of crispy and sealing…

LPC5

I use these totally awesome sprouted grains, flourless, organic, GMO free tortillas…

LPC7

For being so healthy they are really good.

So…just thought I would share!

More loving feel good healthy eating later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB wanting just the chicken!)

Knock on wood – I have never had a flea problem…

April 5th, 2014 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and not having a flea problem lovers…Over the past 2 decades I have had 6 bassets and I have never had fleas.  I have used the chemical liquid between the shoulder blades on several occasions but I just hate it.  Anyway, I googled a safe way to ward off fleas and came up with this concoction.  I am going to try it and in my opinion it can’t hurt.

Flea Spray

Make a pleasant smelling and effective flea repellent spray by steeping thinly sliced lemons and sprigs of rosemary overnight in near boiling water. Add a few drops of geranium essential oil. Spritz on soft furniture, bedding and even the dog to repel fleas. Treat the dog’s bed as well.

Off we go then to the store for the ingredients!

photo 1

The directions were kinda spartan so I tweaked it.  I brought about 10 cups of water to a near boil and added 3 thinly sliced lemons.  I then added about 5 large springs of Rosemary.

photo 2

I went to Whole Foods to get the Geranium Essential Oil.  I added about 15 drops. I was home all day so I let it steep for about 4 hours.  You would not believe howl wonderful it smelled.  Just delicious!

photo 6

I used this spray bottle instead of the one in the first picture.  I let it cool over night in the fridge. The liquid was about 1/4 of when I started.

photo 7

I washed the dog beds and then very lightly sprayed them, about 5 wide sprays.

Daisy Lynn was very curious…

photo 3

“Smells great Mommy…”

photo 4

Daisy Lynn’s new perfume.  She aspires to be a perfume magnate!

Now for the office bed…I am only doing the dogs beds to see howl Daisy Lynn does with this new refreshing scent.

photo 9

She seems to really like it!

photo 11

Who knows if it really works but it sure is worth a try.  I am going to spray some on her paws before a walk and then clean them off when we get home.  I like to wipe hounds down after a walk to remove dirt and grass.

But for now…sweet refreshing dreams my friends…

I have decided to make some life changes…

April 1st, 2014 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and life changing lovers…Starting now, the new name of our town is FAIRY LACE PLACE.

I have decided to comb the globe for lace eared basset hounds.  I have also decided to sell my home and move to farm deep in Kentucky where I can let the lace ears roam the many acres (all fenced in of course) of magical blue grass. I found a farm that I will call Fairy Lace Place!

Here it is – TaDa!

FairylacefarmKY

I will start a new blog documenting my exciting journey.

The lace eared hound is fairly rare and these are a few subjects that I have let get away…
