I have been a Mom of bassets for over 20 years.  I thought I would share this picture of Emma and I moments after we arrived home from picking her and Chaps up from TX.  We had been on the road with Grandma for about 2 weeks.

I think my face kinda says it all about the love of a Mother.

I also think that our kids make us much better people.

UPDATE – DARLING AND BELOVED JETHRO HAS CROSSED OVER THE BRIDGE TO MEET HIS FRIEND RUGS.  Jethro was able to spend the last weeks of his life with his Mom, Cindy’s full attention.  He got to eat exactly what he wanted and was very much doted upon.  He will be missed very much by the bassethoundtown residents but especially by me.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Best Boy Lovers…Howl lucky was I to wake up this morning and find 2 e-mails from 2 best boys…

First up was best boy, aka, grandson, aka Colby Chaps Mead…

Oh, to lay with the Spring Sun Shining bright on a belly…Warms the soul…

Then the next best boy…aka Best Boy Friend Forever…aka longest ears in bassethoundtown, aka Jethro Doyle checked in to say, “good morning my love…”

Oh that face that darling beautiful face.  Jethro, bassethoundtown resident for about 7 years, since Chaps and Emma founded the town, has not been feeling too well.  Himz Mommy has been tending to his every need.  Let’s all send some drool vibes.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Walking Club Lovers…If one could have ordered a perfect day for a walk it would have been today!  Just super duper bassetabulous.  The first walkers to arrive were Bumper and Abby!  Abby was off to the side but I must showcase Bumper, my darling Bumper…I could tell when he got out of the car he was as excited as a hound in a wiener shop!

I know he knew exactly where he was and it was going to be fun!
Just look at his look of contentment…

Upon arrival every hound was served wieners on a silver platter!  We don’t mess around in bassethoundtown!  hehehe

Judy captured this shot right after Nosey pawed the platter and many of the wieners rolled into her mouth! There is even a wiener mid air!  She even shoved some Daisy Lynn’s way!

Gotta love a BFF!

One of the highlights of the day was meeting Sam Hall Newbold!  Marsie, his Mom brought a daisy collar for my Daisy Lynn to match Nosey and Sam, pictured with Tom the husband and Mr. Hall the Grandpa!

Then it was off to the dog park and a world of smells!

A beautiful time was had by all!

And to top it off the “traditional” photo of yours truly holding as many hounds as I can! About 4 or 5 were left out of the shot…

The Mayor Daisy Lynn will be sweet dreaming tonight!

Grandma likes it too!  In the morning I turn this one around so she can watch Daisy Lynn play with her toys!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Saturday in the park lovers…Grandma, Daisy Lynn and I are going to explore as many parks as we can.  We adore going to parks as many of the residents know.

Today we went to Fernbank Park, one of the Great Parks of Hamilton County, Ohio. 

We rated it – 5 paws up!

Just look at this extra wide walking path that winds along the Ohio River…

Grandma pointed out today that it is a huge part of the Mayor’s job to report about the parks in bassethoundtown to her constituents and to bring public awareness to the park systems in every town.  These are truly a treasure to behold.

Look howl a hound can rest and soak in the spring breezes…

We all wear pedometers and try to get 10,000 steps a day.  This is a number, by all accounts, is a goal we should all try to reach!  We bought ours at Walmart for about 6.00!

So lets get all of our legs moving!

All the way to the dog water fountain!  Gotta love that! (see my pedometer?)

Believe me…you will sleep sound after 10,000 steps!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Share Time Lovers…Remember, I told the residents that my basset hound collection of cherished items was beyond burgeoning???  Well, I thought I will share another item.  Actually 2!

We all know howl much our beloved hounds love to chase bunny rabbits…

This one is getting away in its very own lifeboat while my personal monopoly piece watches on!

Yes, I have my very own personal monopoly piece!

The little bunny in the lifeboat is actually carved out of a nut.  She was purchased by my Dad on a trip we took to China.  You can imagine howl cherished she is…

One paddle ahead of her challenger…

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Earth Day Lovers…Did you know that earth day holds special meaning for our beloved basset hounds?  Well it does, indeed!

It is a well-known fact, howled by the oldest bassets, that since bassets are creatures lowest to the ground they feel the earth more spiritually…

And so it is said and so it is recorded in the annals of the bassethoundtown blog…
